Coed Talylan is a remote woodland on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons (Bannaue Brycheiniog) (google: SA19 9DR).

Volunteers stay near our A-framed cabin with shared kitchen either in a carvan, small cabin or camping in the woods.

Work is varied but everything you might expect in building and running a small holding in a woodland. We are very busy working on the land and homeschooling children. So we do need people who are willing to muck in and help out, and can use their own initiative.

We are all former WWOOF volunteers and now pleased to be WWOOF hosts. As such we are careful to follow their guidelines, which can be read in full here:
https://www.wwoof.org.uk/information_for_potential_hosts

Similarly, we expect volunteers to also adhere the requirements of joining WWOOF as a volunteer (although you might not actually be a member) which can be read here:
https://www.wwoof.org.uk/join_wwoof

All food is provided and accommodation is camping in a bell tent.

We can cater for most dietary requirements, however we are not vegetarian/vegan.

The work involved is physical and outdoors and may involve the use of tools and working around machinery.

You will need to bring suitable clothing and footwear for all weather conditions but safety equipment such as gloves will be provided.

If you are travelling by public transport we can arrange a pick-up from Llangadog.

Hours Worked

We can be flexible on this but our preference is the following

6 hours per day

Daily schedule:

9 – 12: Work

12pm – 1pm: Lunch

1pm – 4pm Work

Expectations

We want to make the best use of our time so we expect volunteers are able to keep to the daily schedule.

Alongside the daily tasks we also must work together to keep the shared spaces and facilities clean and tidy.

All volunteers must make their expectations for their stay at Coed Talylan clear before arriving. This booking form provides the opportunity to do this.
