Last year we launched our Farming with Fungi project with a call out for participant market gardens interested in diversifying into Mushroom Cultivation. We had an overwhelming response but unfortunately, we could only choose 10 applicants. Many of the enterprises that expressed an interest were either starting-up their business or in the 2nd year. It is encouraging to know that there are currently many horticultural start-ups here in Cymru. We had to select more established businesses to be in line with our objectives however, we really want to help these 30 plus applicants get started growing mushrooms!
As such, we are running 2 introductory day long workshops here at Coed Talylan in spring next year for small to medium scale horticultural enterprises. You will need to have filled in our application form (link below) and book your place with a fee of just £20. A link to the booking form will be sent to all applicants.
The day will run from 9:30 to 4:30 with a break for lunch.
You will learn everything you need to know to grow the species we are promoting as diversification schemes and take various preparations home with you to try out.
The workshops will be held on the 18th and 19th of March. You can attend either one of these days. There are 15 spaces available.
If you are a new grower or market garden here in Cymru we hope to see you next year!
